Wood Elves

Wood Elves are the most commonly seen and interacted with elves. They live for the most part in the deep forests of the eastern and north eastern woods. They are masters of stealth, camouflage, and guerrilla tactics. They are not overly fond of their High (Mountain Elves) brethren, but maintain good relations. Wood Elves prefer a more wild and physical life; they enjoy nature and love to be surrounded by it. Accordingly, they have a strong relationship with all natural things and the Fairy. They are more fun-loving and care free than High Elves but also very clan and family oriented. Many liken them to the wild wolves that rove in a tight pack. Their cities and towns are generally small, but have well connected lines of communication. They live in shaped trees and dens above and below ground. They are masters of subtly adjusting nature to fit their needs without destroying it. They do castles and fortifications of a sort, but they are few. There largest enemy are Orcs. A hatred exists between the two that is beyond words. Dark magic and demons are equally hated as they are creatures, in elvish minds, that have perverted the true essence of magic. They raise gold silk spinning spiders, farm fungus for eating and drinking, love the hunt, and enjoy food and merriment. Many become very attached to the land they live on and will stay their as long as they live. They have blue, brown, silver, and gold shin and hair colors. The have a distinct monarch whose word is law and severs as the final arbiter for all disagreements. He appoints custodians that travel through elvish lands enforcing laws, adjudicating disputes, and recording information. There are wilder groups of elves that supposedly run and hunt with wolves, but this is hard to confirm. Wood Elves have courts and nobles with rich artistry and craftsmanship, as do all elvish cultures. They interact well with humans for the most part and tolerate Gnolls. They do look down on half breeds though. The Bluemen seem to maintain a good yet mysterious relationship with Wood Elves, but that is the relationship Bluemen maintain with any other race.
